MSc Professional Development (Developmental Transactional Analysis)

An overview

Four parties collaborate to provide this programme:

Programme structure. The DTA programme, which covers how students acquire and demonstrate their professional competence, combines with the PDF Learning Outcomes that are the vehicles for students to demonstrate their ability to reflect critically on their professional practice and to undertake appropriate research activity that will contribute to the profession.

The structure is designed as follows:

  1. Students attend minimum numbers of hours of training and supervision, apply DTA for a minimum number of hours, and whilst doing this are producing evidence of their professional application of DTA (e.g. working notes, correspondence).

  2. Students match their own applications to the appropriate DTA programme modules (e.g. professional intervention when initiating a project, group processes when working with a team or family) and provide portfolios of evidence with a related DTA-based commentary to demonstrate their awareness and understanding of the process.

  3. Students allocate portfolios to PDF modules and submit them with a reflective essay about their professional development as they conducted the work.

Tutor guidance is available for the matching processes.
